The Newest Pictures of Genevieve

Marlys and Gen spent Friday together and here are two new pictures.

North Shore Getaway

We took advantage of a break in programming for MEA to head to Duluth and the North Shore. We looked up family history in county courthouses and read history books in local libraries. We also found a second cousin we hadn't seen in over 17 years. Then we headed up the North Shore of Lake Superior. We started out in a downpour of rain but the clouds lifted a little so that by the time we reached Grand Marais it was misting or dripping. The drive through clouds and mist was just as interesting as our sunny drive back down on Saturday. The rivers cascading to the lake were gushing brown water from the runoff of several days of rain. We stopped at Goosebery Falls on the way home and were amazed at the power of the waterfall. We had been there on our honeymoon 42 years ago and it was a tame, delicate falls at that time. We also took a drive up the Gunflint Trail and viewed the devestation of the fires earlier this year. We stopped to visit Adventurous Christians Camp. Larry enjoyed a tour. We also enjoyed the warmth of the staff who stopped what they were doing to join us in conversation. It was great to take a vacation from retirement!

Bluewater Camp Retreat

October 7 Skyler's B'day

Skyler turned 12 at the end of September. The family celebrated on Sunday. It was fun to watch Gen be entertained by Skyler, Spencer and Rajah.
