Peggie & Eva in Minnesota

 Larry took them out on Lake Pulaski in his boat and Eva tried to water ski.  He didn't tell her to let go of the rope if she fell.  Oops!
Both Eva and Peggie enjoyed being pulled on the tube.
They also had a great time horseback riding.  Even more fun was riding in the Ranger with a wild driver over hills and down through the forest.
Finally, these basketball fans got to tour the Target Center and see where their favorite players had been.  Larry was astounded at the size of Kevin Love's shoes!

Minnesota through Taiwanese eyes

We are having a delightful time with Eva and Peggie who are visiting us from Taiwan.

Our family celebrated birthdays and got to meet the girls on Sunday.

We traveled to Brainerd and then Duluth on Monday and Tuesday.  We've been back in Buffalo the rest of the week.  They have helped Marlys cook and helped Larry put in new screens.

They are having lots of new adventures in Minnesota.

Mission Trip 2013

We had another day of sightseeing and swimming near Mt. Rushmore.

 Then we reported to YouthWorks for our mission trip.  We met the leaders of the site - Megan, Laura & RJ and the other family from Michigan - Rich, Joann, Zach & Faith.  Our experiences were varied - painting and gardening in the morning and interacting with senior adults in a nursing home in the afternoon.
The second day we pulled weeds at a residential building and then worked at the thrift store in the afternoon.  We enjoyed serving others and were challenged to see the people we served as the face of Christ.  We were also learning what servanthood was all about.  We enjoyed each other and had time for reflection and fun too.

Driving home, we had cloudy weather with a little rain.  We decided to continue home instead of camping in SD another night.  It was a long drive, but we arrived home safely.

Camping in South Dakota Badlands

Our first night with Matt and James was near the Badlands.  They loved the swimming pool.  We loved the scenery.  It was a perfect match.

July 4th - Impromptu Picnic and Overnight with our granddaughters

Gen & Vivi were coming to stay Friday, so Pete & Anne came for the afternoon.
Before coming, they went swimming at Big Lake.  Well, Paul heard about that and brought his kids swimming too.  Then they all came to Granpa & Grandma's.The girls played outside and read books.  The boys (young and old) played games.  Leslie joined us after work and we had good food and a good time.

Rajah didn't want to be left out, so she stayed overnight too.
The three girls play well together.  Eventually they all fell asleep.  The two little ones let Rajah sleep in.  Skyler came and picked Rajah up.  Gen & Vivi stayed Friday night too so Pete and Anne could have a 'childless' night.

Anne came to pick up the girls on Saturday.  We went to McDonald's play place in Buffalo before they took off for home.
What a nice way to celebrate the 4th of July!

Larry's World

Larry is accomplishing some of his long term goals.
The kitchen remodel is complete.

The egress window is in the basement but not finished yet.
The tipi is covered and he is furnishing the inside now.

The boat that his dad had at the cabin has been refurbished.  Now he is working on the motor (not the original, but still an old one).

He has an arbor in the back garden for grapes and cucumbers to climb on.  We are waiting for the plants to grow to that size.

Today is our 48th Wedding Anniversary!
