Matthew's Birthday

Here it is only two days after Christmas and 3/4 of the family is together again to celebrate Matthew's 9th birthday. I got a picture of the Wilson Boys with new glasses! Aren't they a handsome bunch!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Christmas Eve was filled with Christmas music and children. We worked in the 2-3 year old room for the first service. What fun to experience Christmas through a child's eyes. For our own celebration we returned to church for the late service which included a carol sing beforehand. My voice is still tentative but I managed to squeeze out some sound. Larry was video taping snippets of the service as he records different things we do at this season.
Christmas Day started out quiet. Of course, we had our red and green pancakes! That is our traditional way to start the day Pat and family arrived just before 1. Pete's family were glad to get to our house and off the slippery interstate roadway. Paul's group came in late. When they arrived we started the birthday celebrations. First, it was Matthew's turn for a 9 year old candle. Then, we sang to Jesus.
It was time to costume up for our Christmas play.

Christmas preparations

Christmas is coming - Celebrating Christ's birth
The tree is up and trimmed with angels and ornaments made by our family
The AWANA Walk Thru Bethlehem occurred last night - sixteen different stations including a Roman soldier, tax collector, olive grower, midwife, cheesemaker and king Herod
The Choir/Bell concert was beautiful, ending with the Halleluiah Chorus, sooo beautiful
The Children's Program including square dancing and line dancing as the children celebrated with a western theme and a cowboy Christmas pageant
The square dance December dance and lesson pot luck are history.

Marlys has had laryngitis for the past two weeks and could not talk for any of these events - Now that the activities are over, perhaps the voice will come back. Luke came one day to stay with us while his mom worked. He had a sore throat so he had a quiet day with Grandpa and Grandma.


We look forward to having our family gathering on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family.

Getting ready for Christmas

Here it is, the middle of December. Our Children's Christmas party was last Sunday and the Dec. square dance was last Friday. Last Tuesday the women gathered at church for a wonderful evening of humor and good food. Our tree is decorated and sparkling with little lights. It is our first artificial tree and was a challenge to get up, but looks great.
Marlys camedown with laryingitis on Friday so missed the dance and had to give the square dance calling job to Larry. Eight dancers did a square dance in the children's program, From Our Herd to Your Herd. Here it is a week later and she is still coughing and sounding terrible. We babysat for Gen on Monday so have new pictures.
The Christmas letter is written and should be on its way soon. Merry Christmas to all.

Let it snow!!!

It is wonderful to see the clean, white snow. Perhaps it is because it waited until December and we love a white Christmas. I don't know, but it is beautiful and welcome. The weather is cold. Today it is up to 27 F and it feels balmy outside. But the wind is a bit cold. As long as we have heavy clothes on, it is good.
Today we had our only December MOPS morning. We were able to do Christmas crafts with our little charges. We sang "Happy Birthday" to Jesus and made pictures of the manger scene. What a happy time.

Marlys went to a tea party a couple of weeks ago. The pictures show the lovely table with scones and Devonshire cream. The dishes were beautiful to look at too.
