Busy Weekend

Wapiti Rendezvous, Square Dancing, and a visit to St. Cloud kids.
Larry is especially interested in life long ago. We visited an historic rendezvous near Elk River to see the crafts of long ago. It looks like a fun family activiity - recreating the past.

We also square danced in Roseville and St. Cloud. We ended the weekend at Pete's house and enjoyed supper and a fun game of Phase 10 Twister! Here's the latest photo of Gen.

AWANA Year Kicks Off

The weather was beautiful for the AWANA Kickoff Event on Wednesday, Sept. 14th. Most events were held outside including registration. Students participated individually in several activities like the tree legged race and gymnastic routine. Then they had a team tug of war!

Wayzata Class Reunion - Guests from Finland

Larry had a great time showing Jaakko his latest gadgets and interests. They stopped at the Middle School for a quick visit too.

Mimmi and Marlys went to the Ordway Theater in St. Paul to hear the chamber orchestra. Mimmi enjoyed the music. She didn't have to strain to make conversation in English at the banquet, which is difficult for her. However, she understood most of what was said in conversations. She enjoys teasing Jaakko. We had a fun visit. These are some of "The Guys" from the class reunion.

Larry also brought us to see his friend's woodworking shop.

The finale of the visit was Jaakko getting a flat tire on the freeway. He and Mimmi did a great job getting the flat tire off but ran into big problems getting the spare tire off the vehicle. A Good Samaritan came by and loaned us his spare so we got home, it was repaired that same night so we could go to the airport on time the next morning.

A Lake Getaway

Larry and I took three days for a quick 'vacation' to head up to Brainerd. The occasion that brought us there was solemn, one of Larry's cousins, Marilyn, had passed away earlier this summer and the graveside service was on Wednesday in Pine River. We spent Tuesday on the road and visiting Wilson cousins - Marge & Steve and Patty & Doug. Wednesday afternoon we spent at Eagle Lake with brother-in-law, Bob. We sure enjoyed hiking along the road and lake. We also scouted the new golf course and new roads on the other side of the lake. Bob has a beautiful home built around the core of the old cabin.

Each night we spent at cousin Judy's new old cabin on Round Lake. The smell of the pine was fresh. The air was cool. The surroundings brought back memories of early days at the lake.
