AWANA CAMPING

Boys and girls who finished a book in AWANA this year were invited to camp overnight last weekend. Activities included swimming, boating, tenting, and a bike hike.


Mary used storms in the Bible for the devotions. We had our own storm for about 1/2 hour in the afternoon. There was enough wind to knock over a big apple tree. It fell on our tent! After clean up, we were still able to use the tent. Some of the poles were bent but it held together.

Larry surprised the group by using his skid behind the boat instead of the inner tubes. In the morning, the kids and some of the adults biked to a park for lunch. The weather was beautiful.

June - Larry's Days

In June we celebrate Flag Day, Larry's birthday, and Father's Day almost in a row. This year Larry is also the featured speaker at the Monticello Camera Club. In fact he is presenting right now. He brought many things to show the variety of photography interests he has had through the years. The topic tonight for pictures was '100 yards from your back door.' So here are the pictures he made into a collage showing how he steams wood, sands it down and then forms it into Scandinavian style boxes. His 'shop' is just outside the basement door under the deck.

Second Week in June

Vacation Bible School was a busy time of action for Marlys. She was involved in publicizing the missions project which will send funds to Oaxaha, Mexico for health services in the schools. Then on Thursday, Larry and Marlys headed to Duluth to the Minnesota Square Dance convention.

Our RV had a brake problem so we enjoyed a weekend of camping in our tent.

First Weekend in June

Friday night was graduation night in Buffalo and Monticello. Our friend, Mike, graduated from Monticello. Here he is with brother and mom.

Saturday night Larry and Marlys square danced downtown Minneapolis during the Minneapolis Mosaic which celebrates the cultural diversity of the city. Before the square dancers we watched Scottish step dancing and Hawaiian Hula. Afterwards they had Middle Eastern dancing and Brazilian drums.
