Camping

We have enjoyed the campgrounds near Ketchikan. Settler's Cove is at the end of the north road (about 18 miles). It is on the ocean and next to a beautiful waterfall. The sites are all near the water in the old growth forest. There was plenty of wood for the fire ring so we had a nice fire almost every night. Marlys found out there is beach glass to collect here. Glass pieces wash up on the beach and are smoothed by the wave action. We stopped at South Higgins Beach today and found more beach glass.
Our first night, we camped next to a couple who live here as temporary workers. We visited their house the next day and saw some of the crafty things they like to do.
The other camp ground is at Ward Lake. We got a great picture of one of the mountains as reflected in the lake. We also got great mountain pictures which are still in the camera.
Larry has been cooking breakfast. We are eating well. Last night we had Chinese buffet from the Safeway deli. There is enough for a second meal on the ship tonight. The ship has a microwave so we can heat it up and enjoy.
